Hello, and Welcome! My name is Lori Ann Robinson, and I am the designer behind Lori Ann Handbags. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about myself and my handbags. From as early as I can remember I have always loved fabric and making things from it. Especially beautiful fabric. I can remember as a child asking my Mom for her old lace curtains to make "Cinderella" gowns. I was about 10 years old then. Of course, then it was all about just wrapping myself in them more so than making a dress from them, but that set in motion the course of developing my talents over the years so that I could continue to make things that I knew no one else would have. I started to draw my own patterns for my doll clothes. A few years later I tried my hand at making my own clothes. This was after having a few years in Home Ec and sewing class. I have always loved creating things and working with my hands. I have tried every craft there is to try (at least I think so), but the one constant love for me is beautiful fabrics. I have many years of experience in sewing and I used to own my own custom drapery business for a few years as well, until tendonitis set in my wrist from the many hours of working with huge draperies. I gave that up, but my love for design has never left me. I am a graduate of Sheffield School of Interior Design and wanted another creative venue that I could work along side my Interior Decorating business and Lori Ann Handbags was born. I have always loved carrying beautiful bags and have always tried to find different styles to set me apart from the crowd. I've wanted to design handbags for years, and finally decided that now is the perfect time.
All of my handbags start with a hand drawn pattern of an original design. Although I do make multiples of each bag design, each is finished in different fabrics with different details. No two are ever alike. I spend hours on end searching for just the perfect fabrics for my bags. I use gorgeous imported Italian, French and English tapestries, silks, and linens for my spring and summer bags and the same along with chenilles, and cut velvets for my fall and winter bags. The fabrics are all of the highest, top end quality. If you were able to purchase them through a retail store, most would be priced for anywhere between forty to over several hundred per yard. Many of them are "to the trade only" fabrics and not available to the public. I use beautiful finishing touches for them such as silver and gold magnetic snaps and handle rings, as well as special one of a kind touches such as high end vintage brooches and other quality jewelry finds. Many of the finishing touches on my bags are sewn on by hand, one at a time, and it is all done by me from start to finish. I can have anywhere from a day and a half to as much as several days in completing one bag. I don't rush through a bag for the sake of getting them finished. I enjoy the entire process and put quality and workmanship above quantity as these are original, one of a kind bags - they are not mass produced.
I take great pride not only in my designs, but in the finished product overall. When I finish each one and look at it as a whole, I feel very happy about what I have created from nothing. I hope that you too will enjoy owning and carrying my bags as much as I enjoy making them.
Thank you very much for visiting my site and for your purchase. I hope that you will drop me a line, I love to hear from my customers and enjoy hearing your feedback very much. If I can help you with any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Creatively Yours,
Lori Ann Robinson
